Supervised boarding

Short-term boarding for pets with medical needs that require more oversight than a standard boarding facility can provide — with a full emergency hospital right on-site if anything changes.

Who is supervised boarding for?

Supervised boarding at Frisco Emergency Pet Care is not standard kenneling. It is a service designed specifically for pets who need more than a food bowl and a walk — pets whose health requires monitoring, medication management, or the reassurance that emergency care is immediately available if something changes.

Recovering from surgery or serious illness
On complex or time-sensitive medication schedules
Diabetic pets requiring insulin injections
Pets with conditions that could deteriorate
Wound care or bandage changes needed
IV fluid therapy or ongoing treatment
Owners who want veterinary oversight during travel
Pets declined by standard boarding due to medical needs

What is included

During their stay, boarding patients receive care from our licensed veterinary technician team. This includes administration of all medications (oral, injectable, and topical), regular monitoring of vital signs and overall condition, wound care or bandage changes as needed, nutritional support and feeding assistance, and daily updates to you on your pet's status.

The most significant benefit of boarding with us is immediate access to emergency care. If your pet's condition changes during their stay — if they develop a new problem, if a wound becomes infected, or if they show signs of a complication — we do not need to refer them elsewhere or wait for an appointment. We are already there.

What to bring

  • All medications, clearly labeled with your pet's name and dosing schedule
  • Your pet's regular food (dietary changes during boarding can cause GI upset)
  • A comfort item — a blanket or toy that smells like home helps reduce stress
  • Your regular vet's contact information and any relevant medical records
  • Emergency contact information in case we cannot reach you
Not sure if supervised boarding is right for your pet?

Call us at (469) 287-6767 and describe your pet's situation. We will tell you honestly whether our facility is the right fit, and if not, help you find something that is. We never want a pet to be placed somewhere that does not truly meet their needs.

Scheduling a boarding stay

Unlike emergency services, supervised boarding does require advance coordination. Please call us ahead of your planned travel to discuss your pet's needs, confirm availability, and arrange a drop-off time. We will ask about your pet's medical history, current medications, and what level of monitoring their condition requires.

Frequently asked questions

Standard boarding facilities are staffed for healthy pets — feeding, exercise, and companionship. Supervised boarding at a veterinary hospital means your pet is monitored by licensed veterinary technicians, can receive medications on complex schedules, and has immediate access to emergency care if their condition changes. It is the right choice when your pet has medical needs that require professional oversight.
Pets recovering from surgery or illness, those on multiple or time-sensitive medications, diabetic pets requiring insulin, pets with conditions that could deteriorate quickly, and pets whose owners simply want veterinary-level peace of mind during travel. If you are uncertain whether your pet needs supervised boarding, call us and we can help you decide.
Yes. We administer medications on whatever schedule your pet requires — including injections such as insulin, IV medications, and wound care. Please bring all medications clearly labeled with your pet's name and dosing instructions when you drop off.
Our boarding is designed for short stays — typically a few days to a week. For longer stays, we can discuss whether our facility is the right fit or help you find alternatives. Our focus is on pets with active medical needs, not routine long-term boarding.

Your pet can't wait. Neither should you.

We are open right now. No appointment, no referral, no waiting list.
